Transfer and taxi to Porto Carras Grand Resort

It is a true crime to spend exciting holidays in Greece and forget to visit Porto Carras (known as Porto Carras Grand Resort). This small resort (by European standards) provides a huge beach area for relaxation. It embodies all the things you have dreamt of.

The settlement of Porto Carras is situated on the peninsula of Sithonia in Northern Greece. It was initially developed as the Paradise hideaway for tourists and VIPs. This place is a creature of Yiannis Carras, the prosperous ship owner, and businessman. Thanks to his efforts and elaborated work of his followers, the resort became “a country in the country”, which aims to provide ideal conditions for recreation.

Hotels in the Settlement

The Housing infrastructure of Porto Carras is a nice surprise for both the beginning tourists, but also for experienced travelers. There are two 5-star hotels in the settlement – Meliton and Sithonia.

Porto Carras Sithonia is the all-inclusive hotel. Some of its apartments are situated directly on the wharf and provide the access to private yachts. Use them and get the maximum pleasure from the Greek vacation.

Those of you, who wish to have a bit more during relaxing holidays, can try the VIP apartments of Porto Carras – Villa Galini. This place was visited by such famous people like Salvador Dali, Albert the prince of Monaco, and John Kennedy. Most of its guests called this place “the embodiment of Heaven on Earth”.

There is also something to please the lovers of extraordinary peculiarities. Within the holiday area, you can see 3-star apartments Village Club Residences. They are built in the form of a small village in the authentic Macedonian style. The stay here is an excellent opportunity to experience local atmosphere, feel the spirit of true Greece, and take pictures of the most unforgettable moments in your life.

Attractions of the Resort

The main attraction of Porto Carras is Villa Galini. It is a caste of Yiannis Carras, the founder of a settlement. It nestles on the picturesque hilltop, overlooking the sea and the Sporades Islands.

The building is included in the register of historic hotels in Greece. It features a great number of antiquities and artworks of the best craftsmen.

Villa Galini boasts of having the original artworks by Salvador Dali, a mosaic by Yves Saint Laurent, a favorite musical instrument of the Greek classical pianist Gina Bachauer, and masterpieces of famous sculptors.

At the opposite side of the hill, you can see vineyards and groves as well as the distillery, welcoming travelers with a broad smile.

Another popular landmark, you can visit is the old town of Neos Marmaras. The sea trips to this dream location run daily. During the stay there, do not forget to visit the market, where you can experience the full coloring of “antique” Greece.

Infrastructure and Entertainment

Porto Carras is a rather young resort that was initially planned to attract tourists. That’s why, it includes plenty of facilities for perfect holidays, among which is the largest casino in the country and the first largest yacht club (350 vessels). Moreover, you can find supermarkets, restaurants, and taverns to all tastes and budgets there.

There are a lot of family run shops on the territory of the resort. They are primarily aimed to satisfy the needs of tourists. The items sold here are a bit pricier if compared with the nearby town. However, you can buy everything you wish – from clothes up to cars.

The Greeks like to bargain and do it well. That’s why, before shopping, you should define the limits of your budget. Otherwise, you won’t be able to resist a temptation to buy everything you like and spend all the money you have.

The resort area provides entertainment for young people either: one can take some lessons at a riding school, and visit a yacht club that offers excursions and sea voyages. In addition, within Porto Carras, you can also enjoy facilities inherent to the best seaside resorts, like diving, bird watching, etc.

Another facility for recreation found within the territory of the settlement is the largest “marine sanatoria”. It ensures a wide range of amenities for rejuvenation: Spa treatments, procedures based on the usage of healing seaweed and sea salt.

Weather and Season Length

The tourist season in Porto Carras begins in the mid-May and lasts up till the end of September. The weather here is fairly stable. Rains and winds are a rather rare natural phenomenon. The bay protects the peninsula from the sea monsoon, what leads to stable hot weather (from 20 to 30 degrees).

The sea of the resort is one of the warmest in the country. The temperature of the coastal waters does not drop below 25°C. In the hot August, it reaches the mark of 28 25°C. Local conditions provide the best facilities for family weekends and holidays.

How to Reach the Resort of Your Dream

Porto Carras is the second largest city after Thessaloniki. The distance between these two spots is 120 kilometers. You can come here by yacht, by helicopter or by bus routes, servicing the area. However, the easiest way to get into the resort from the airport is to book a vehicle from Aktis.Taxi.

Moreover, the feedback of the experienced travelers proves this fact. A trip by taxi is the best excursion for you to enjoy within the incomparable beauty of Halkidiki coastal line.
